During the 2015-16 School Year, All Saints Academy and Catholic Charities West Michigan are partnering to help kids in foster care. Every day, Catholic Charities West Michigan works with over 250 children who have been abused and neglected. These children have been removed from dangerous environments in their homes and placed in a safe and secure foster home while their parents work to resolve the issues that brought the children into care. Catholic Charities West Michigan works with families in need to establish a safe and positive home environment for children to return to. While parents are working towards rebuilding their home, children are in need of a temporary placement, or foster home, to maintain their safety and security. If children cannot return home due to these unsafe conditions, Catholic Charities helps to find the children adoptive homes where they will be safe and loved. The need for foster and adoptive homes is rising as we are seeing more school-aged children and sibling groups coming into foster care. The children in foster care need more than a safe place to sleep at night. That’s where All Saints Academy and the students are helping.
The students of All Saints Academy are helping the children in Foster Care to feel more comfortable and supported while they are in a Foster Home. Through donation drives, Home Economics projects, and other means, the kids under the care of Catholic Charities will feel a little more at home. Representatives from Catholic Charities West MI will be at the school campuses throughout the year, answering any questions that you may have about Foster Care, Adoption, or other needs that the agency addresses.
